Squibb’s celebrates

Squibb’s, the best little bookstore in Toronto, celebrated its 90th birthday today in blow-out style. Dozens and dozens of people showed up, some with flowers and cake, to celebrate the by-far oldest bookstore in the city.

Squibb’s was founded in 1927, bought by the Weinbergs in 1980. Suri has run it since 2001, when she took it over from her parents.

Here’s to another 90!

  1. Thanks Adam! Hope you enjoyed yourself and your book! It was a rockin’ party until about 4pm and then it was quiet – 6 hours of steady festivities and love. Thanks to everyone who came by or sent messages. Couldn’t have done it without my amazing hubby, Mike, our fantastic guests: author Antanas Sileika, Nancy (Squibb) and hubby Steve along with some of their kids, and Gordon (Squibb) Bennett and his kids along with their special ‘Squibbs Honey’. P.S. more honey will be available soon for those who missed it….

And a very huge thank you to Gary Alderson and his photo booth – it was certainly a big hit and a great way to memorialize some of the visitors that day. And to Martin Proctor for his incredible artistry on the fly – your sign was truly amazing and a definite keepsake!
