Big plans for Weston to be released later this month

The Weston 2021 Design Initiative is convening again to discuss the results of the  bean counters’  “Technical Assistance Panel”. The City, Metrolinx, and the Urban Land Institute will be releasing the results of their consultations and making further plans at the community update.

A design conference in May brought planners together with the community to make grand plans for the revitilization of Weston. Those plans were then taken to the the Technical Assistance Panel to be assessed for financial viability.

Everyone is welcome at the community update meeting. It will be held Wednesday, June 29 at 6 pm, at St John the Evangelist.

  1. The only question is “Where is the community center going to be?” Most of the design teams seemed to be dodging that question for the three day event. I don’t know about you but pretty store fronts and streetscaping is not what I want for Weston. Don’t geet me wrong they would be nice but the priority would be for a Community Center actually in the Community of Weston. We have 3000 school aged children in Weston, 1600 of which attend school between grade 6 and 12 and we have nowhere for them to go to avoid being caught up in street violence or mischief. We should be concentrating on the Elephant in the room which is community services for middle school and high school students. Lets help keep them off the street and in organized sports and arts programs.
