ACORN protests rising rents

It’s the first political protest I’ve ever heard of in Weston. About 20 people marched at Laura Albanese’s office last week according to Inside Toronto. ACORN’s  Weston chapter was protesting rising rents and failures of rent control.

“Once you leave an apartment, landlords can raise the rent by 500 per cent,” ACORN Canada Weston chairperson Laurie Simpson told The Guardian.Weston is a neighbourhood with many apartment buildings, Simpson pointed out; however, the need for rental reform and affordable housing is a city-wide issue.
