A new book about the CCM cycle manufacturing company is available. The author, John A. McKenty, will
be signing copies at Frontlines on July 24 at 2 pm.
CCM was, of course, one of Canada’s great companies, and its roots were in Weston. The bicycle factory opened in 1917, and stood where the Tim Horton’s on Lawrence is now.
According to the press release,
McKenty weaves anecdotal vignettes throughout his book, providing readers with a social history of the company, the people and the products used by millions of Canadians throughout the 20th century.
“My book looks at CCM from a grassroots level,” says McKenty. “This story truly is about the people involved with the company.”
The 350-page book includes 150 photographs, illustrations and advertisements.
Canada Cycle & Motor: The CCM Story is available at Squibb’s Stationers.
