Climbdown on electrification?

The Clean Train Coalition asks if the re-elected Wynne is already wavering on electrification.

mere days after the provincial election, an article in The Toronto Star would suggest Metrolinx is sending messages intended to lower expectations for electrification of the Union-Pearson Express train

The Star reported last week that the former president of GO thinks that electrifying the UP Express is going to take much longer than promised—8 to 10 years to “hang the wires, locate, build and connect electrical substations along the corridor.”

Last year, however, Glen Murray, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, said that “the earliest date that we can achieve electrification would be 2017, and I am very committed to working with [Laura Albanese] to realize that timeframe.”

Murray also tweeted that electrification would be complete by 2017.

  1. 2017 – or later? Oh… those lying Liberals! YSW got what it voted for. Will we ever learn?

  2. Fools all of you…..wait till the liberals start charging more taxes, user fees, etc…..Weston needs a ratepayers association to fight these politicains.

  3. Uh… we do have a ratepayers association called the Weston Village Residents’ Association. Has been around for about 3.5 years now. Just had the AGM with speaker at the end of May. LOL is right…. LOL!
