School is back in; muggings start anew

A 16-year-old youth says that he was mugged and robbed of his iPhone at around noon on  September 5, near Elm and William Streets. Three men, around 18 years old, tried to grab it from him but failed. The suspects punched the victim until they were able to get his phone. Police are looking for suspects matching the following descriptions: Suspect #1: Male, black, 17 to 18 years, 6’, 130 to 141 pounds, medium build, short brown hair in cornrows. Suspects 2 and 3: Male, black.

Morning mugging:

An 18-year-old man says that he was mugged at about 10:15 on September 9 near  Queenslea Avenue and Pelmo Crescent. A man on a bicycle approached him, and said he was armed—though the victim did not see a weapon. The suspect grabbed the victim and stole his watch before fleeing on his bike. The victim had minor injuries. Police are looking for a black male, 25 to 30 years old, 5’9” to 5’11”, with a thin build, and brown eyes.

  1. This is horrifying: morning? noon? streets with houses and trees and children — what can be done to make the streets safe for walking?
