Loblaws Job Fair April 17, 12 – 6pm. Location: Best Western Primrose Hotel, 111 Carlton St. Loblaws is looking for, “Talented dynamic team players for various part-time positions in all departments” in their stores across the city. Applicants are asked to bring references and a resume.

Keep Toronto Reading with Antanas Sileika. Thursday April 12th at 7pm at the Weston Public Library. Antanas Sileika reads from Buying on Time, a humorous novel which traces the lives of a family of immigrants in Weston between the 1950’s and 1970’s. It was nominated for both the City of Toronto Book Award and the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour. Author, freelance broadcaster and journalist, Sileika is also the winner of a National Magazine Award and the artistic director of the Humber School for Writers. Event is co-sponsored through the Weston Library and by Squibb’s Stationers where the author had his first job!

Paintings by Andrew Glinski, April 14-20, 2012, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Artists to Artists Foundation presents “New Nature” featuring works of Weston-based artist Andrew Glinski. In this current work, “Glinski delves deeply into the significance of our contemporary environments and the landscapes that are changing around us.” A complete review of his work can be found at www.glinski.com.   1. I wish the Seleika reading had been posted before April 12! Buying on Time is a great book — Hurricane Hazel, growing up in the 50s, a really good read!

    Metrolinx “tour” — does this mean another PR person with a clipboard to take notes on our concerns for consideration, and collecting e-mail addresses so that we can be “informed” and reassuring us that it’s all going to be fine?
