Events this week

It’s going to be a melancholy week this week in Weston.

On June 12, Metrolinx will be having a UP Express open house. They will be discussing the environmental assessment for their electrification plans. These have been poorly attended in the past. Let’s change that. Weston Legion at 1050 Weston Road. 6:30–8:30 pm.

June 15, 2013: St. John the Evangelist Catholic School Open House. St John will be closing, and will be replaced with a new school. This is your last chance to visit!

Westminster United Church will be having its closing service on Sunday, June 16.

Sunday, June 16th marks the final closing service of Westminster United Church (see Events for details). The Church has changed names and locations over the years, but it has been a fixture in the Weston community since 1858 when the principals of two Weston schools initiated the organization of the Weston Free Church. On Sunday, February 22, 1953, The Very Reverend Dr. George C. Pidgeon dedicated and preached the opening sermon in the sanctuary of the Westminster United Church at 69 William Street, where the congregation continues to worship today. The Farmers’ Market will officially open this Saturday. It will be followed with the  Best of Weston Multicultural Festival and Sidewalk Sale. At 10, all of your local political representatives will be speaking. There will also be lots of stuff for the kids.
