Farmers’ Market open, awesome

The Farmers’ Market got off to a great start this year. Hundreds of people turned out to support our local growers and retailers—and to get fed.

Indian Elvis put in an appearance, as he usually does, and the lineup for Ken’s bacon sandwiches (which your correspondent takes as an index of the buyers’ mood) was very long—surely foretelling a wonderful year ahead.

  1. I went to the Farmers Market this morning. Are those actual farmers or just vendors selling produce from the Food Terminal?

  2. John, I was there too and was wondering the same thing. It was apparent that a few were actually from farms, but there were a few others I could not tell.

  3. I think, and I could be wrong, that the provenance of the produce can be determined by the awnings. Local growers had something saying “Ontario grown” on the fringe. Foodland resellers didn’t.

I think that’s correct. I’ll try to find out more certainly.
