Food bank

The WKNC newsletter this week had great news. First, they fed 120 people with 13 turkeys at their Christmas dinner. Wow.

Michael Kooiman also passes along some great news from Diana Stapleton at the Weston food bank. I don’t think he’ll mind if I repeat it here:

We are able to provide over 10,000 hampers to families and singles that are struggling to pay their rent and feed their families. WAES helps people like Samson, the new immigrant from Nigeria struggling to find full employment so he can bring his family to the safety of Canada. He came to WAES only when he ran out of food, something that had never happened before in his life. He was so amazed that the volunteers at WAES went to so much trouble to get him the food he needed, and that all he had to do was ask. He is now employed, and his family is going to be arriving in Canada in the spring. Your support helps us to do this valuable work, and we all appreciate your contributions. Merry Christmas, and thanks for the amazing neighbourhood support.

The WAES has a site where you can donate money.
