Your correspondent got the date wrong on the Weston Historical Society’s meeting just before sending it out to our email digest subscribers (it’s been corrected online). The general meeting will be at 7:30 on Wednesday, February 7 at The Village of Humber Heights Retirement Home, 2245 Lawrence Avenue West.
In other heritage news, the long-running effort to build out the Weston historical district took some steps forward this month. Frances Nunziata says that Cherri Hurst, the president of the WHCD, met with the city’s Planning and Growth Management Committee to push (again) for a second phase.
Hurst asked “for Heritage Preservation Services to move forward with initiating the study for the Weston Heritage Conservation District Phase 2 study area…. [Staff will] review a proposed expanded Phase 2 area bounded by Elm St., Springmount Ave., Macdonald Ave., Pine St., and Church St.”
As described, I think this leaves out a part of the original plan, which included the triangle bounded by Rosemount, Church, and Elm. I’ve asked Frances Nunziata for clarification.
