Mike Sullivan presents petition for better sewers

Let’s be honest: Sewers are not a sexy issue. But did you know that strong storms in 20 years will dump three times as much rainfall in Toronto as they did in the past? That incredible storm we had this year was a spring shower compared to what’s coming. In future, we can expect a third more rain than that diluvian drenching—166mm of rain will be the new normal. This summer we got 126 mm.

Canadian Underwriter magazine has an excellent article on the petition our MP, Mike Sullivan, presented to the House of Parliament asking for federal funding for improved sewers.

The petition, the article says, has been signed by more than 1000 people, and asks the feds to “immediately take action necessary to fund urgent municipal infrastructure projects to prevent property damage such as that suffered by the residents of the City of Toronto on July 8th 2013.”

It’s a shame the feds will flush it.

  1. I can’t wait to see Mike cut the ribbon on that new sewer with the millions of dollars he has been getting for Weston from the Feds since his election. I can barely walk for all the federal funds flowing into the area unabated.

  2. Dear Eric: I was struck by your comments and decided to do some research. Didn’t take me long to come up with $1.6-million:
    -$850,000 for housing improvements
    -$750,000 for youth jobs
But I suppose you’ll want more. Some people are never satisfied . . . and some secretly long for the good old days when old-time, big boss politicians sleep through committee meetings and live in million dollar mansions far away from the folks they allege to represent.
Wishing everyone on WestonWeb a Merry Christmas . . .

  3. Eric is confused since Mike is getting results and Laura and Nunziata have done nothing….Eric is use to the do nothing politicians….Eric can’t understand why a politician is doing “stuff” for his riding…..Eric needs to stop hanging around the do nothing’s.

  4. Oh please, North Westonite, was that $750,000 for Youth Jobs right here in Weston? Nope. It’s for the entire province. And it had nothing to do with Mike- are you so orange that you can’t see that?
