New commenting system

For now at least, I’ve turned off the old comments on WestonWeb.ca. I’d like to try two new things: a Facebook group where you can comment and create your own discussions, and a commenting system that ties into Facebook.

While the comments here were frequently lovely, they were sometimes frustrating, and using Facebook should improve upon the system we had.

Most importantly, it will let you start your own discussions. I’m sure that some of you would like to contribute the occasional bit of news or advice.

Also, though, our Facebook group will:

  • Allow for up-voting
  • Encourage civility
  • Give you freer rein to comment on the stories
  • Ensure opinions are backed by real people

All the news we write on WestonWeb will appear on the group. You can comment on it clicking straight through from the post using the little “Discuss” link.

If you prefer, though, you can also continue to post your comments here. Now, however, you will be asked to sign in with your Facebook account, for the same reasons.

To start or join the discussion, join our new group—I really hope you like it.

And one important warning: This will be an experiment, so don’t write your first novel in the comments.
