A rash of B&Es

There has been a recent rash of break and enters in the Weston area. In Rustic, just over Jane, police have asked for help catching a middle-aged couple who break into the homes of elderly women of Italian heritage, while the owners work in the back yard.

Police describe the male thief as  “white with a dark-olive complexion, 45-55, heavy build and spoke with a slight accent. The woman is described as white with an olive complexion, 50, 5’1″-5’5″, with a heavy build, long dark hair and a hawk-shaped nose.”

Your humble correspondent recalls that police issued a similar warning last year about break ins happening while owners worked in the back.

There has also been a series of break-ins in the southern part of Weston and northern part of Mount Dennis. Three houses around the West Park Healthcare Centre have been burglarized in the past month. One house near Ellis Avenue has, too, as well as two houses in north Weston.

  1. Thanks for the reminder about backyard work — and about the importance of neighbourhoods where people spend time and know their neighbours!
