Report on Metrolinx meeting

A new research group funded by the U of T has a nice report on the meeting they held last Monday. The meeting was to discuss employment and transit issues in Weston–Mount Dennis.

Besides equitable access to jobs, participants suggested several other community benefits that Metrolinx could offer through the construction of the Eglinton & Weston Road mobility hub:

  • space for a community hub to service the Mount Dennis area

  • One-stop location for finding out Metrolinx employment opportunities instead of being told to go online

  • a farmers market in front of the Weston Road station entrance

  • a day care so that women can more easily enter the workforce

  • a pedestrian bridge over the railway so that residents living further south of Elginton are not cut off from the grocery store and future recreation centre once Metrolinx erects a high fence along the rail line.
