Rob Ford votes against free money for Weston

Rob Ford was the only person to vote against $375,000 of free federal money for anti-gang initiatives. Some of that money would have come to Weston, a priority neighbourhood. The rest of City Council, including Frances Nunziata, had the good sense to take free money.

The $350,000 will be used to extend a three-year federally funded pilot project… to help 300 young people “at high risk of gang attachment” in Rexdale, Jane-Finch and Weston-Mount Dennis transition into legitimate employment, and to help the city to gain insight into which tactics work and which don’t.

Metro News has the story here.

Ford was elected mayor with 60% of the vote from this ward.
