Some day, children will not be mugged

But it won’t be today. 12 Division police report that a 14-year-old boy was mugged on Monday at around 4:30 in the afternoon near the intersection of Jane and Lawrence. The suspect, around 20 years old, threatened the boy with a knife and stole his cell phone. The mugger then fled towards Speers Avenue.

You can view a map of all the muggings in 2012 here. Jane and Lawrence and Jane and Queens are particularly bad areas in the hours just after school. This is the tenth reported mugging of a child this year.

  1. And yet the meetings with the police go on … another one tonight with Councillor Nunziata at the helm. It turns out 7p.m. is a safe time; maybe we should keep children in school until 7 so that they could walk home safely in our neighbourhood.

    What, what is being done?

  2. what meeting is nunziata hosting?
and has anyone actually been to one of her meetings….rather useless. I remember an old post where someone asked her what she had done to improve the community and she mentioned a skate board park from a long long time ago.
