The UP Express service is too expensive, according to a survey conducted earlier this month. 68% of the 900 people surveyed said the $27 is too much. That’s up significantly from a previous poll, which found that 58% of respondents thought it was too expensive.

Astonishingly, 70% of people thought that the UPX should be radically overhauled and turned into a commuter train integrated with the TTC. Respondents were, on the whole, willing to pay more for the service than the $3 TTC fare. The average suggested ticket price was $12.

In the press release, the President of Forum Research said, “It appears Torontonians use and accept the necessity of an airport link, it’s just that they think it should cost half as much and stop more. It’s instructive that, after 6 weeks of operation, voters think it’s more expensive than they did initially, and are less likely to use it”.
