Toronto to review ‘priority neighbourhood’ designation

Weston has been one of 13 ‘priority neighborhoods’ in Toronto. It’s a designation that brings us about a million dollars a year in extra funding  but one that might change. The city is reviewing the designation according to The Star.

The city government is about to begin selecting the first new crop of neighbourhoods since the priority initiative was launched eight years ago. The selection process, likely to becompleted in 2014, is complicated and political: neighbourhoods that make the updated roster may get millions of extra dollars from governments, corporate donors and non-profits.

His Eminence, of course, opposes the designation and the extra funding.

Thanks to the tipster whose name I misplaced.
