WKNC opening new location

The Weston King Neighbourhood Centre will be opening a new location, in Mount Dennis, at 1269 Weston Road earlier next year, according to Barbara Bisgrove, a founder. It will be part of the Learning Enrichment Foundation building.

“At the Mount Dennis location”, she says, “we will be emphasizing environmental gardening for mental health, we will be encouraging community kitchens, and we will be doing drop in services, but, with the emphasis on people helping themselves…. We want to encourage people getting through the system.”

The funding came from the Mount Dennis United Church. When it closed, it left enough money to fund the WKNC Mount Dennis program for three years.

  1. Congratulations, and thanks are due to Mt Dennis United Church for investing in the immediate needs of the neighbourhood when the congregation could no longer support their building.
